General questions

  • When do bookings begin?

    • We start taking bookings in the January preceding the summer, that is, bookings for summer 2017 will be accepted as of January 2017.

      You are welcome to inquire about availability in advance, however deposit payments will only be requested from the January.

  • What are the office hours?

    • Reception is open from 9am – 12pm & 2.30pm – 6.30pm.

      The reception and bar are closed between 12pm and 2.30pm daily.

      Be sure to plan your arrival around these times.

      Please adhere to your check-in and check-out times.

  • When is food served?

    • Dinner is available on the terrace 6pm – 8pm from our visiting food trucks serving a selection of local and world food cuisine.

      The café serves coffee, tea, cold drinks, ice-creams and snacks between 9am-12.30pm and 2.30pm – 10.30pm.

      The café & reception is closed daily from 12.30pm – 2.30pm.

      We can also recommend some great local restaurants.

  • Where are the shops?

    • Sainte Nathalène – 1km to the local bar & restaurant.

      Proissans – 3.5km to a butcher, patisserie, restaurant and general conveniences.

      Sarlat – 7km to all major supermarkets, restaurants, shops etc.

      Carlux – 7km to butcher, baker, convenience store, post office, bar/restaurant/tabac.

  • Can I order fresh bread for breakfast?

    • Yes, order your baguettes, chocos and croissants the day before for next day delivery in time for breakfast.

  • Is there wifi at the campsite?

    • Yes, we have free wifi throughout the campsite.

  • Visitors / Tourist Tax

    • In France, you must pay a daily local tax which will be included in your bill.

  • Is the water safe for drinking?

    • Yes, all water on the site is drinkable.

  • What months are the swimming pools open?

    • The pools are open from April to September from 9am to 9pm. They are not heated.

      There are no restrictions on wearing board shorts in the pool.

  • Are barbecues permitted on the campsite?

    • Yes, gas and charcoal barbecues are allowed on the campsite. Electric barbecues and campfires directly on the grass are not permitted.

  • Are dogs allowed?

    • Please keep your pets on a leash and be sure to be with them at all times. Take them off site to do their business and clean up after them in order to respect the local area.

      A valid vaccination certificate is compulsory by French law. We can help with the Pet Travel Scheme i.e. all dogs must be treated for tapeworm by a vet not less than 24 hours and not more than 120 hours (1-5 days) before its scheduled arrival time in the UK.

  • Where are the nearest natural swimming spots?

    • Beautiful swimming spots are located on the banks of the Dordogne. Saint-Julien-de-Lampon (6km) and Vitrac (16km) both have beaches and picnic areas.

      Grolegac Lake is around 16km away and has a sandy beach and playground. Tamnies lake is nearby and has an inflatable ‘It’s a Knockout’ style course for kids 6yrs and over.

  • Where can I buy wine?

    • Special rates on wine are offered in cases of six when bought direct from our local producers.

      Bordeaux red, white and rosé and St Emilion are available and should be pre-ordered at the bar.

      Ophorus tours offer half-day and full-day wine tours of the famous Bordeaux and St Emilion wine estates. Wine can also be bought during these tours.

  • What about quiet time & camping etiquette?

    • The Cosy Nook café, bar and reception area closes at 10.30pm every night.

      Between 10.30pm and 8am guests are asked to keep noise levels respectfully low.

      Please respect camping privacy and avoid cutting through other people’s pitches.

  • Can you recommend a place to stop en-route to Mathevies

  • Are visitors allowed?

    • Visitors are welcome. Please introduce your guest at reception. For security, they will be asked for identification and we will register them in the guest log. There is a charge of 5€ per visitor per day.

      Your visitors are welcome to stay on-site for the whole day and have full access to all campsite facilities and amenities.

Camping questions

  • Can I reserve a particular pitch type?

    • We are unable to guarantee particular pitch choice however every effort will be made to allocate you a preferred pitch type.

      We will inform you if we need to make a change. Acceptance of a booking is not conditional on the allocation of a specific pitch.

  • When do I need to pay my balance?

    • For short stays of 7 nights or less, full payment will be requested to secure the booking.

      For stays of 8 nights or more, a 50% deposit is required to secure the booking. The remaining balance is then due 6 weeks prior to your arrival. Please make a note of the date as we don’t send out reminders.

  • What are the arrival and departure times?

    • Check-in: You are welcome to arrive any time from 2.30pm – 8pm.

      Check-out: Your pitch must be vacated no later than 12.30pm.

      Remember that the bar and office are unattended between 12.30pm and 2.30pm.

  • Can I arrive late at night or early in the morning?

    • In order to protect the amenity of our guests, camping arrivals will not be permitted before 9am or after 8pm.

      Early morning departures before 7.30am are not permitted.

  • Do you offer power hookups?

    • Yes every pitch has a 10 amp electricity hookup (EHU).

      Please ensure you come prepared. You will need to bring a European 3 pin 10AMP adapter plug and your own extension lead. We would recommend purchasing leads and adapters before you travel. You may hire an adaptor or extension lead in advance if needed.

      Cables and adapters are not provided as standard when hiring a fridge so please come prepared.

      Most caravan and camping accessory suppliers will stock them.

  • Can I rent a fridge?

    • Yes, fridge hire is available.

      Don’t forget to bring your own extension leads and adapters (see FAQ above).

      When hiring a fridge remember to bring French to UK adapters so that you can hook up the European fridge to your UK sockets if necessary. You can use the EHU for any other electrical devices on your pitch.

      Please arrange fridge hire and cables etc in advance as we only have a limited number of fridges available.

      When you check in we will ask you for a security deposit in the form of a credit card impression.

  • Can I refreeze my freezer packs?

    • Yes, take them to reception. Please clearly label your ice blocks to avoid mix-ups.

  • Do you exchange gas bottles?

    • It is not possible to exchange gas bottles on the campsite however they may be exchanged at any of the major supermarkets in Sarlat.

  • Is there a chemical toilet?

    • Yes, the chemical toilet and grey water disposal area is located beside the sanitary block. Please use environmentally sustainable chemicals.

Accommodation questions

  • When do I need to pay my balance?

    • A deposit of 50% of the total will be requested to confirm your booking.

      The balance must then be settled 6 weeks prior to your arrival. Please make a note of the date as we don’t send out reminders.

  • What are the arrival and departure times?

    • Check-in: Your accommodation will be ready any time from 4pm – 8pm. If you arrive earlier than 4pm then remember that the your rental may not be available.

      Check-out: Please make sure you are checked out by 10:00am. There is an extra charge if you vacate after 10am.

       

  • Can I arrive late at night or early in the morning?

    • In order to protect the amenity of our guests, camping arrivals will not be permitted before 9am or after 8pm.

  • What equipment is supplied with the accommodation?

    • Please see the inventory for a general idea of what we provide. The kitchen is fully equipped and pillows and blankets are provided.

      A security deposit of €200 is requested upon arrival and returned upon departure provided the accommodation and its contents is returned undamaged and in good condition.

  • What bedding is provided in the chalets/gite/mobile homes?

    • Pillows and duvet blankets are supplied. Bring your own square pillowcases, fitted sheets and quilt covers. Towels are not provided with the accommodation.

      Please bring your own linen and towels or hire ours in advance.

  • Is the accommodation air-conditioned?

    • No, however the temperature in the evenings drops at night, even in the height of summer.

      Fan hire is available if desired.
